THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
Robert Wilesmith is a generally registered psychologist who works with individuals across a range of settings, including disability services, community health, and private practice. He has experience supporting people in rural and remote areas, including work with Indigenous communities.
Robert takes a person-centred, culturally informed, and affirming approach to therapy. His practice is grounded in trauma-informed and neuroaffirming principles, with a strong focus on creating a safe, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic environment. He works with individuals, families, and relational systems, offering support through individual, dyadic, and systemic interventions.
Robert tailors therapy to each person’s needs and goals, drawing from a range of evidence-based modalities. These include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
